    Betty Rojas

    President

    Betty is a dedicated mother of two young children, one of whom is neurodivergent. She is deeply passionate about fostering inclusive communities that create a sense of belonging for all individuals. Currently a stay-at-home mother, she previously led family engagement and research & development at a charter school network. Betty is devoted to supporting our youth in becoming their best and most authentic selves. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering in schools, Tai Chi, and yoga.

    Nhu is a recovering software engineer and mother of 2 boys, one of whom is neurodivergent. She is passionate about giving voice to marginalized groups and supporting communities where everyone can feel like they belong. Her hobbies include baking, reading, swimming and drinking tea.

    Meredith Lamont

    Treasurer & Grants Chair

    Meredith is the mother of two daughters in PUSD. Raising a disabled child has strengthened her commitment to ensuring all students have equal access to a quality education and are seen as valued members of our community. As Chair of the Grants Committee, Meredith is proud of the significant funds PIE has raised and granted directly to Special Education providers annually. Professionally, Meredith spent 20+ years as a corporate retail executive and is now an independent consultant in Merchandising and Business Strategy.

    Maddy is a product counsel and the mother of 2 boys, one of whom is neurodivergent. She is passionate about creating a more supportive and inclusive community in Piedmont, where everyone feels welcome. She enjoys volunteering at the school library, exploring new destinations, and making and sharing the perfect baked goods to accompany tea.

    Neurodiversity Speaker Series Chair

    Fairuz Abdullah is lawyer, a higher education administrator and an certified executive coach. She is a mother of two children, one whom is neurodivergent. She is passionate about providing support to neurodiverse people in education and workspaces. She believes every individual is capable and should have a seat at the table.

    Kristen Harknett

    Millennium High School Liaison 

    Kristen is a sociology professor and parent of two teens. She is a firm believer that all kids benefit from inclusive educational environments and that "we all do better when we all do better." She has an outsized love of libraries and e-bikes.

    Sarah Karlinsky

    Piedmont Middle School Liaison 

    Sarah is the mother of a neurodivergent son. She cares deeply about equity and inclusion, ensuring that our schools are welcoming and encouraging of all students. By day she works on advancing housing policy for a Bay Area public policy think tank so that everyone can have a place to call home. She lives with her son, her husband Matthew and her dog Sugar.

    Beach Liaison 

    Liz is the parent of one middle schooler and two elementary-aged children. She has a master's degree in education and currently serves as the program administrator at a local preschool. Raising neurodiverse children has strengthened her interest in special education and her commitment to ensuring equitable access and meaningful support for all learners.

    Rachel Licitra

    Havens Liaison

    Rachel is a marriage and family therapist and a mother of two children, one of whom is neurodivergent. Navigating the world with him has opened her to ways of thinking and seeing that were beyond comprehension before. She seeks to contribute to creating more spaces where people feel valued and seen in our complexity. She is passionate about playing piano and psychoanalysis.

    As a stay-at-home mom, Roxanne is committed to fostering a school community where every student feels they truly belong. She believes that when schools embrace each child’s unique strengths—including the creativity and perspective that can come from neurodivergence—they unlock potential that benefits the whole community.

    Jessica is a communication professional and runs a public relations agency by day. She is the mother of 2 children, one of whom is neurodivergent. She is passionate about supporting the Piedmont schools in a way that empowers leadership to foster an environment where every student feels they are supported and belong. She loves the Piedmont community and is happy to collaborate to ensure we extend that sentiment to all our students.

    Hao is a statistics professor and a mother of two children. In her work, she often thinks about variation -- not just averages, but the many ways individuals can differ from one another. As a parent, she cares about helping children with different strengths, needs, and learning styles feel understood and supported at school.

    Sarah is the parent of three neurodivergent teens, which inspired her to become a trained advocate and start NeuroAffirm. With over two decades in edtech, she partners with the community to help families find the best resources to embrace neurodiversity and support every learner’s potential. In her free time, she loves to travel and swim.
