Neurodiversity Series: Transitioning to Middle School and Beyond with Carrie Poole

  • Piedmont High School Student Center 800 Magnolia Avenue Piedmont, CA, 94611 United States (map)

This workshop is for any parent of a student with learning differences who wants to learn more about the road from elementary school to high school and beyond. Carrie Poole will facilitate lively groups discussions on the ways that parents can prepare themselves for a future full of unknowns.

What expectations are realistic? What are some of the educational and employment alternatives for students not directly headed to a university? How can we support a student in developing independent skills? She will also provide practical information on topics such as “accommodations” vs “modifications” to the curriculum, how these changes affect graduation requirements, and the difference between a diploma and certification of completion.
